What to do in Pantelleria in a week: itinerary, experiences, and unmissable places

Published on: 27-01-2026 Pantelleria is an island that needs to be explored slowly. It's not a destination with sandy beaches and resorts, but a wild, volcanic, authentic place where sea, nature, and silence coexist.

This is an editorial guide by Pantelleria Experience, based on the firsthand experience of people who have lived there since birth and the feedback of those who truly experience the island.

Before even delving into the itinerary, there are two essential things to do upon arrival, without which it's difficult to truly experience it.

1. Rent a vehicle immediately
Pantelleria is large, wild, and not served by efficient public transportation: without a car or scooter, you can't get around. We recommend organizing your transportation as soon as you land, using a local rental company. 👉 Recommended rental: https://noleggiopantelleria.com

2. Check the weather and book a boat tour of the island
The wind on Pantelleria greatly affects activities. As soon as you arrive, check the forecast and decide on the best day for your boat tour of the island, then book it. It's the unmissable experience of the week. 👉 You can book it here: https://pantelleriaexperience.it/it/experiences-cat/giro_dell_isola_via_mare-2

Once you've booked your boat tour, you can plan the rest of the week with peace of mind.

Below, you'll find what to do in Pantelleria in a week, with a flexible itinerary: the days can (and should) be adjusted based on the weather.

Itinerary idea for a week in Pantelleria
The days are approximate and should be adjusted based on the weather.

Day 1 – The symbols of Pantelleria
Elephant Arch, Cala Levante, and Cala Tramontana
Start with the island's symbols. The Elephant Arch is recommended in the morning, when the light is best.

In the same area, you'll find Cala Levante and Cala Tramontana, which almost always offer the opportunity to take a dip.

The area is equipped with a bar and restaurant: Le Cale is perfect for a comfortable lunch overlooking the sea.

On the way back, stop in Gadir for another swim and to try the natural thermal baths, ideal for relaxing.

Day 2 – Natural well-being and volcanic landscapes
This day should be decided based on the wind:

If there aren't any windy days forecast during your week, you can do it anytime; if a mistral wind is forecast, save it for that day:

Mirror Lake of Venus
In the morning, visit Mirror Lake of Venus, relax in the warm waters, and try the natural mud baths.

Benikulà Cave or Lake of the Ondine
In the afternoon:

Benikulà Cave with its natural sauna, best at sunset for a truly evocative atmosphere, or,

alternatively, with a strong mistral wind, Lake of the Ondine, particularly charming with rough seas.

Day 3 – Trekking and views.

Montagna Grande, Bosco delle Fate, Grotta dei Briganti, Kuddia Mida
Pantelleria isn't just about the sea. Dedicate a day to the trails:

Montagna Grande, Bosco delle Fate, Grotta dei Briganti, and

Kuddia Mida are located in the heart of the national park and are the most beautiful viewpoints on the island.

👉 We always recommend trekking with expert guides, which can be booked on our website in the Terra Experience section, for a better and more immersive experience.

Day 4 – Island Tour by Boat
All tours generally depart around 10:00 AM and return around 4:00 PM.

It's a complete tour of the island, with stops at the most beautiful and pristine coves on the southern coast:

- Balata dei Turchi

- Punta Limarsi

- Grotta dell’Amore

- Il Faraglione

- Le Acque calda di Nikà

are just some of the coves you'll visit.

Almost all tours include lunch on board.

Day 5 – Culture, History, and Traditions
Village of Sesi and Acropolis

Spend the morning on an archaeological visit, preferably with an expert guide:

Village of Sesi and its necropolis, perhaps early in the morning, and the Roman Acropolis of San Marco in the late morning.

👉 Alternatively, you can use the audio guides available on our website.

Wine Tasting
In the afternoon, relax with a tasting at one of the island's wineries. Book in advance! Easy, select the date and number of people in the dedicated section - Tastings and Typical Products - click here - https://pantelleriaexperience.it/it/experiences-cat/degustazione_vini_e_prodotti_tipici-3

Day 6 – Sea
Balata dei Turchi in the morning, one of the most beautiful cliffs in Europe. Spend the morning there. For lunch, perhaps head towards Scauri and stop at one of the restaurants in the district, perhaps even at "Friscu" or the Marrone bakery, for a quick lunch. Afterwards, relax completely at the Grotta di Sataria with its thermal baths, then head home for a change of clothes and before sunset,

A fantastic aperitif on the domes at Sesiventi, an iconic venue with a view of Africa. Book here 👉 https://pantelleriaexperience.it/it/experiences-cat/sunset_experience-10

Nature excursion
Alternatively, take a hike in the National Park, such as the Gelfiser Canyon, always with expert guides, as these places are not easily accessible without someone who knows the route.

Day 7 – Last sea and farewell
Choose a cove you haven't visited yet:

Cala Cottone, if you want to hike, is reached via a path immersed in nature.

Khattibuale or one of your favorite coves for total relaxation.

In the afternoon, stroll through the center of Pantelleria or Scauri to buy a souvenir.

At our Pantelleria Experience tourist hub, you'll find souvenirs and typical products; in Scauri, we recommend shops like "Cose Tinte" or "B-Art".

For the last evening, enjoy a special dinner.
